The Trailer for Tarsem's Immortals

Tarsem boasted that there was no-CGI in The Fall what so ever; there are a few shots where I have my doubts. But overall the film does carry a tangible elegance, like a classic black and white photograph, that is almost unachievable when using has CGI. The Cell was loaded with practical special effects but it was a bit too early a time for heavy use of CGI. Both where visual masterpieces (although if their stories lacked a little punch).
Unfortunately this looks a little bit more like 300 than The Fall. Not only in the use of CGI, but overall in the way it is shot and laid out. I'm still excited to it: Tarsem plus Snyder's producer should still equal awesome. But I am a bit disappointed. What do you guys think?

New Trailer for DEATHLY HALLOWS PART 2 surfaces.

So, lately we have been posting ads by famous filmmakers with the argument that an ad is basically a short movie with a lot of product placement. And that craft-wise (perhaps even artistically) some deserve to be praised as a filmic achievement on their own. The same goes for movie trailers; it is not even that rare when one ends up being better than the movie. I doubt this will be the case. Nevertheless it is one hell of an epic trailer.

New Poster for On Stranger Tides Surfaces.

The new poster for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, has been revealed. It pretty much reveals that Jack Sparrow is the protagonist here. Honestly, I am not sure how I feel about this. Despite being the franchise's iconic character Jack was never really meant to be the protagonist. He certainly wasn't in the first one, although he took a more central role in the sequels where pointing out a protagonist is really freaking hard. Technically it should be Will, but he was kinda shoved aside in order to make room for more swashbuckling. Which, if anything, having Jack as the protagonist will guarantee tons of. I'm always down for more swashbuckling.
Anyway here is the poster:

Review: KNOWING

What if you knew the world is going to end and there was nothing you could do about it?
Knowing goes where no end of the world film has ever gone before, it does not try to explain every event in the movie in a deceptively logical fashion. Very few movies choose this path, afraid they will not be taken seriously. When you put your mind to it, you notice a few things: A) most popcorn movies have preposterous plots that need not to be taken seriously, B) explanation in films take up time that might be used for more important things, such as character development, and C) I really do not go to see movies so I can learn how the Earth’s magnetic sphere works.

Marvel's Thor to have a Classical feel?

Breaking News!

For those of you who are fans of this blog, you know that we loves ourselves some comic book goodness. One of the next installments of Marvel's new and improved movies is going to be Thor. Though the title actor is still yet to be determined (Come on Triple H!), the topic of director has recently been brought back up because Kenneth Branagh has been talking to the studio about doing it.

This announcement comes as a welcome shock. Not only as an actor, but as a director is Mr. Branagh well versed in the classical "sauce" as some may put it so we can't wait to see how Shakespearean Thor will turn out.
