Review: THE TROLL HUNTER

           The Troll Hunter (aka Trolljegeren) is, for lack of a better expression, one interesting monster. On one hand it is just another B-level mockumentary ala Blair Witch Project, or Cloverfield that is allegedly edited from found footage rolled by a group of teenagers tracking a troll hunter. But it is also a damn good monster movie, and a decent drama about survival in the Norwegian backwoods. This can be mostly attributed to the fact that, unlike most horror-muckumentaires, The Troll Hunter has a decent in-story cameraman. So, even though the genre still requires tremendous amounts of queasy-cam, we actually get to see quite a good amount of troll shots. I for one greatly appreciated this.

Review: THE SKIN I LIVE IN

Let me put it this way; even if you have seen all the films by Pedro Almodovar you will not see this one coming. Like most of Almodovar’s films, The Skin I Live invokes what is perhaps the boldest form storytelling as he slowly unfolds a plot that can only be described as devious and dark perversion of the soul. And I mean that as a compliment. Almodovar likes to play with his audience; he pushes the limits of the viewer until he experiences revolting pleasure.

And we are afraid of feeling this… mostly, because we like it but do not know how to deal with it.

Jump Back in Time to: And God Created Woman (French Film)

Maybe you are rushing off to theaters this weekend to check out some dry new films like "Space Chimps" and "Fly Me to the Moon", but i'm going to suggest you go to the video rental store instead and pick up a copy of "Et Dieu... créa la femme". Yeah, its a French film from 1956, and its decently boring, but let me tell you why this is easily the greatest movie on earth.

"Et Dieu... créa la femme" roughly translates to "and God created woman" and the wonderful tagline is "but the Devil invented Brigitte Bardot!" Which pretty much means that Brigitte is a woman who needs to be tamed by the movies end.
