It's not really a comedy like the trailers advertise. And it's not really a normal president biography like Oliver Stone usually goes for.
No, W. is just a story - a story about a guy. A guy who gets into something way over his head.
I went in expecting to see a mockery of Bush (not to say the movie is completely devoid of that), but I left the theater feeling something for him. Not hatred, not anger, but sympathy.
So Zack and Miri made a porno. Then I reviewed it.
Basic Summary (Spoilers May Occur) - not major ones though!
Zack (Seth Rogen) and Miri (Elizabeth Banks) are two friends who have known each other in the platonic way since 1st grade. Now they live in a little loft in the suburbs. However, neither of them have jobs that are that great. Zack works with his best friend Delany (Craig Robinson) at a coffee shop known as Bean-n-Gone, under an unforgiving boss (Gerry Bednob). After work one day, Zack purchases a 'self pleasure' item, and subsequently finds out he cannot pay the bills for the month. The power and water get shut down. So rather than live like hobos, they get Delany to invest as a producer, and decide to join the porn industry with Zack and Miri as the main stars. However... soon it becomes apparent that this media venture will not run as smoothly as it did on paper.
Why is that the word 'porno' is so much funnier than 'porn'?
Whatever the reason, Kevin Smith knows his comedy, and is back with an all new film, Zack and Miri Make a Porno.
Zack and Miri (Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks) star as two life long friends who, in order to make money to keep their apartment, decide to make a porno. But sex on camera isn't all daises and bundt cake, and soon the two realize that they may have more feelings for each other than they previously expected.
The cast looks great. While not part of the Askewniverse, Smith has endeavored to cast a bunch of his regulars, including but not limited to Jeff Anderson and Jason Mewes.
But the cast is also riddled with Apatow's gang. Besides the obvious Seth Rogen, Smith has cast Justin Long, Craig Robinson, and Gerry Bednob. I haven't seen Bednob in a movie since his memorable cameo in Walk Hard, so I am looking forward to that with great excitement.
This movie is sure to be hilarious. The trailer has been released, so definitely check it out. I know I'll be there opening night.

Role Models is the story of two energy representatives Danny (Rudd) and Wheeler (William Scott) who, after a over stimulating day, find themselves faced with the option of prison or joining a child mentorship program known as 'Sturdy Wings'. Paired with Augie (Chris Mintz Plasse {Superbad}), a shy nerd obsessed with a real life role playing game known as L.A.I.R.E, and Ronnie (Bobb'e J. Thompson {That's So Raven}), a young boy with an obsession for breasts and foul language. Danny and Augie get caught up in a crazy world of L.A.I.R.E, headed by the fictional/proud King Argotron (Ken Jeong {Knocked Up}), and Wheeler exposes Ronnie to a players life of sex, drinking, and women. But raising someone else's kid's is harder than it seems, and soon, to Danny and Wheeler, the idea of 30 days in jail does not seem that bad.
Role Models is the story of two energy drink sales representatives (Paul Rudd and Seann William Scott), who after some bad judgement calls find themselves forced into a child mentorship program. Danny (Rudd) is assigned Auggie (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), a dungeons and dragons / medieval obsessed kid, and Wheeler (William Scott) is assigned Ronnie (Bobb'e J. Thompson ), who seems to be a 8 year old version of Dave Chappelle, who no 'Role Model' has ever been able to tame. Hilarity ensues as they take care of these kids and presumably learn a little about themselves along the way.

Meet Dave is a decent film at best. Ed Helms plays a villain that is not too captivating, and the jokes on his name being #2 were used up back when austin powers still was a 'new thing'. Elizabeth banks is beautiful as always as the mom of the kid who Dave spends his time around, but her character is hardly developed. Same goes for everyone else. Pretty much, the only two developed characters in the entire film are #3 (Gabrielle Union) and The Captain (Eddie Murphy). They have nice character arcs in a film that teaches you that, when everyone treats you like trash under their shoe, you will develop and learn to be human.... when you are in fact from outer-space.
The story relies far too much on sympathy for cute children, and for a Sci-fi comedy... the director, Brian Robbins, did not quite nail the film, ironically he did quite nicely for one of his recent films "The Shaggy Dog", which is always good for a laugh.
What makes the movie good is Eddie Murphy. He is easily one of this generations best character actors. He can contort his body and muscles in a way that one could never imagine. His comic timing is brilliant and almost every line or action he makes delivers a solid laugh. Shame the rest of the movie couldn't preform as well as he did.
"...and now I must disappear into the night!"
Ps. Eddies next movie is also about people who are really small. Keep an eye out for "The Incredible Shrinking Man"... coming to a theater eventually!
